Positive Reflection

Amal’s journey was full of personal growth, positivity and energy. It would be hard to pick just one experience out of all and mark it as the best. Online courses, live sessions, batch mates and one-on-one session taught me one lesson or other. But after all, there is one activity which I believe is the most impactful i.e. SMART Goals. We made these goals during our initial weeks of the fellowship but it was my first time coming across such eloquent technique of goal setting.

Before coming into Amal, I’ve always believed in big dreams, goals and visions but I never had a way to sort them. I used to write my short term and long term goals in a note book sometimes but not that detailed. Transforming a goal into a SMART one can be very effective because we’re not only dreaming and being optimistic but we’re rather planning wisely and weighing the possibility of it coming true. It is the most realistic approach one can follow to make his/her life according to his/her desires.

Prior to the SMART goal activity, we had to set our goals in a learning group task to discover our “why”. My group members contributed effectively to make me consider each one of my goals properly. I was able to measure the practicality of each goal. This learning group activity and my group members refined my practice of goal setting to a greater level. Also my program manager Sir Anis guided me to set short term goals because I’d included only long terms goals in the project work.

I’m definitely going to practice this technique after the fellowship ends for setting my short term goals, although I used to set my short term goals but never have I ever set a deadline for them and things without deadlines are mostly undone at least according to my experiences.I hope it makes me realistically productive to make my life beautiful.
